Sthala Purāṇa tradition · sacred narrative

Per the Koṭirudra Saṃhitā, the devout Ghuśmā worshipped Śiva daily with a hundred and one liṅgas; when her son was slain and cast into the tank, her unbroken worship moved Śiva to restore him to life. At her prayer the Lord remained there for ever as Ghuśmeśvara — Ghṛṣṇeśvara.

Where traditions differ, MandirPal shows each view with its sources and declares none of them absolute. Sacred narrative is labelled as tradition, history as documented evidence. Timings and rules change, so confirm with the official temple channel before you travel.
