Per the Koṭirudra Saṃhitā, when Kārtikeya withdrew to Krauñca mountain after the contest with Gaṇeśa, Śiva and Pārvatī came south to console him and remained on Śrīśaila — Śiva as Mallikārjuna, 'the Lord white as jasmine', with the Goddess as Bhramarāmbā.
