Sthala Purāṇa tradition
Per the Koṭirudra Saṃhitā, Śiva and Pārvatī came to this hill to console Kārtikeya and remained here, the Lord as Mallikārjuna, making the hill itself the kṣetra. Temple tradition worships the Goddess here as Bhramarāmbā.
