Overview

Vaijanātha at Parli is, in the smaraṇa śloka's reading 'Paralyāṃ Vaidyanāthaṃ', the Vaidyanātha Jyotirliṅga — the identification of the Maharashtra tradition, recorded by the state's tourism department. The Beed district administration records the temple's renovation by Ahilyābāī Holkar in the 1700s.

Sthala Purāṇa tradition

The Vaidyanātha legend of the Koṭirudra Saṃhitā: Rāvaṇa's austerities, the liṅga that could never be lifted once set down, and the Lord abiding as the healer. Both the Parli and Deoghar traditions claim it for their own kṣetra.

History documented

Early modern

The Beed district administration records that Rani Ahilyābāī (Holkar) renovated the Parli Vaijnath temple in the 1700s — the same queen whose rebuilding the corpus meets at Kashi Vishwanath.

Which temple is the kṣetra? claims side by side

Contradiction Protocol: the smaraṇa śloka appended to the stotra reads 'Paralyāṃ Vaidyanāthaṃ', the reading behind this temple's identification as the Vaidyanātha Jyotirliṅga, and Maharashtra Tourism records it among the revered Jyotirliṅgas. The stotram proper reads 'pūrvottare prajvalikānidhāne' and the Koṭirudra Saṃhitā's listing reads Citābhūmi — both consonant with the Deoghar (Jharkhand) tradition of Baba Baidyanath Dham. MandirPal presents all readings and both identifications, and adjudicates neither; see the Deoghar entry alongside this one.
